Silver Creek Materials offers one of the finest composts available. This compost is produced with a wide variety of high quality materials including beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, sport drinks, waste wood and much more. Although the compost is rich in organic matter and nutrients, it remains necessary to maintain proper soil fertility through a regular fertilizing program. Our composting facility is the largest single-site composting facility in the state of Texas. We bring in tons of source-separated wood waste daily; grind it up into a smaller, screened material, then let nature take over for several months. We maintain the proper moisture for composting by spraying the compost piles with millions of gallons of out-of-date beverages, instead of using scarce water resources.

Premium Soil Mix ($17.50/yard)

Silver Creek Materials offers one of the finest soil mixes available. This soil is carefully blended to produce optimum plant growth. Our #1 selling premium soil mix consists of a screened blend of compost (60%) and the purest cushion sand available (40%) to add stability to the blend. This blend is best used in establishing new gardens, flowerbeds and leveling lawns. It also works well in establishing new lawns, spreading a four-inch layer before installing sod. Premium Soil Mix is a good substitute for topsoil and unlike most topsoils, it is 100% free of weed seeds. Our mixes are consistent year in and year out - you always know what you're going to get when you order Silver Creek Soils. Cedar Mulch ($30.00/yard)

Silver Creek Materials offers the finest bulk cedar mulch available. This mulch is derived from hand-picked cedar trees on Silver Creek's all-organic ranch near Walnut Springs, Texas. Most other cedar mulch is a result of land-clearing and is loaded with dirt and other unwanted materials.  Not Silver Creek Cedar Mulch!  These trees are plucked with roots and all; the dirt is shaken off, and then the whole tree is ground.  The roots are loaded with evergreen oils that result in the most aromatic mulch possible.  Mulching with Silver Creek Cedar Mulch is only necessary every two to three years due to the abundance of evergreen oil present in the mulch.  Applying a 3-4 inch layer of this mulch around your plants will significantly reduce the need for watering and is the best organic weed control available.

Native Tree Mulch ($15.00/yard)

Silver Creek Materials offers one of the finest mulches available. This mulch is selected only from native trees and shrubs in this area. Mulch produced from living plants, as opposed to dead wood like pallets and lumber; make a soil cover rich in nutrients and living microbes. Applying a 3-4 inch layer of this mulch around your plants will significantly reduce the need for watering and is the best organic weed control available. We recommend re-mulching once every year.

Finely Shredded Native Tree Mulch ($18.00/yard)

Silver Creek Materials is now offering a third type of mulch. This mulch is the same as our Native Tree Mulch, however it has been double-ground, producing a finer mulch. Applying a 3-4 inch layer of this mulch around your plants will signicantly reduce the need for watering and is the best organic weed control available. We recommend remulching once every year.

Lava Sand Mix ($30.00/yard)

Silver Creek Materials offers one of the finest lava sand mixes available. This soil is carefully blended to produce superior, healthier plants resulting in less work for you and less maintenance for the plants. The lava sand promotes outstanding nutrient exchange between the soil and the plant roots. Our lava sand mix consists of 60% compost, 25-30% cushion sand, and 10-15% lava sand. The mix works really well in flower gardens where more moisture retention is important. Although the product is rich in organic matter and nutrients, it remains necessary to maintain proper soil fertility through a regular fertilizing program.

Lava Sand ($75/yard)

Silver Creek Materials offers bulk lava sand to our customers. Lava Sand promotes better nutrient exchange between your soils and plants. In addition, the small particles are porous, absorbing moisture and holding it longer than other earthen materials. This is a valuable, plant-saving characteristic in the scorching Texas heat! Lava sand works well as a soil amendment to your lawns and gardens applying 40-80 lbs per 1,000 square feet.

How to Order Bulk Product for Delivery:

Select product & determine amount.

1. Determine coverage = length X width

2. Determine volume in cubic feet = coverage X depth

3. Divide cubic feet by 27 to convert to cubic yards.

Garden Example: 25 feet long X 25 feet wide = 625 square feet X 0.33 feet (4 inches deep) = 206 / 27 = 8 yards

4. Choose area for delivery:  must be solid level ground free of overhead obstructions.

Expanded Shale ($55.00/yard) 

A permanent fix for heavy clay soils, expanded shale resembles common gravel at first glance, however it has been processed through a kiln at close to 2,000 degrees.  This process ‘expands’ the shale, making it porous and useable as a soil amendment to break up heavy clay soils.  The typical application is to put down 3” on top of the soil, then till it in to a uniform mixture; in tougher soils, try 1 ½ inch and then till in another 1 ½ inch.

Decomposed Granite ($65.00/yard) 

Color ranges from copper brown to a golden red.  Derived from granite rock, it is gravel high in trace minerals, most commonly used as a base material for pathways, tracks or trails.  It compacts well, and does not migrate easily – due to the angular shape of the material, it stays in place very well.  Some common uses include foundation fill, driveways, patios (base for pave stone style applications), hike/bike and running walking trails, playgrounds, and landscaping uses.
